ISRA Thursday Bulletin - December 20, 2018

by Richard Pearson

There is no question that unbridled illegal immigration is a threat to our Second Amendment Rights, as well as many other facets of the United States we know and love.  The left, of course, doesn’t see it that way and is on a constant quest to tear the United States apart.  Flooding the country with illegal immigrants is a sure way to do that.  The left-wing news media, left-wing organizations and left-wing politicians place constant attacks on the idea of The Wall, while saying there are other ways of securing the border.  Those other ways include such things as drones, more personnel, warning systems and on and on.  So, if they are willing to fund those things, why not The Wall?

ISRA Thursday Bulletin - December 13, 2018

By now all ISRA members should have received their annual membership drive packet.  It is very important that every ISRA member try to recruit one or more new members.  Last weekend, I attended the Pekin Gun Show.  One of the excuses people use to not join the ISRA is that they are not interested in politics.

ISRA Thursday Bulletin - December 6, 2018

It’s time to start thinking about Christmas gifts for shooters.  Of course, the top item would be an ISRA membership for everyone you know.  If they are already an ISRA member, that’s okay, you can just extend their membership or better yet, upgrade it to a higher level.  Watch your mail for a special offer coming your way soon.

Three Days of GLOCK

Three Days of GLOCK

by David Diller

When I heard the Illinois State Rifle Association was going to host a GLOCK Armorer’s Course and Pistol Operator Course, I was so excited. I didn’t believe I needed to take another armorer’s course, but the thought of learning everything about the newer GLOCK Generation 5 Safe-Action-Pistol intrigued me. I was intrigued but it was late November and it might be cold.

Executive Directors Message

The Black Friday sales have passed, Cyber Monday is over and the icy winds of winter are sweeping through the towns, cities and prairies of Illinois.  The outdoor shooting season is mostly over except for a few shotgunners and hunters.  Don’t worry, Spring will be here before you know it.  In the meantime, there are lots of activities that you can do.  You can start by cleaning all those guns you have been shooting all summer.  It would also be a good idea to check over all those guns you don’t shoot that often.  Don’t forget the heirlooms that were entrusted to you by dad, Uncle Charlie and others (in my case, my mother’s shotgun which took many pheasants over the years).  It is particularly nice to recall those treasured memories as we handle those firearms.  It is all part of the shooting tradition; don’t forget to relay those memories to others.
