Tuesday Night Irregular Rifle League

Scuttlebutt
General announcements of interest to
TNIRL members
----------
The turnout was light for our
annual organizing meeting last night at Fran’s.
Maybe some of you didn’t notice the early starting date for this
season? This year the last Tuesday of April is our first night of shooting competition!

He goes on to say: “We’re interested in purchasing AR-15 Service
Rifles and equipment in good condition.
Any donations will also be gratefully accepted.” [Donations are not tax-deductible.]
So, if you’ve got a spare
rifle, scope, mat, or etc. that could benefit the ISRA Junior Hard Dogs, please
call Ted via his cel phone: (630)

If you take a look at the Other Irregular Rifle
Matches page you will now find a detailed description of the Combined
CMP/VMR Matches. Have a gander, you
might find this match more appealing than you remember. If you know someone with an interest in
firing a CMP Qualification Match or someone who would like to fire a fun match
with some old surplus rifle they have (or any safe rifle, for that matter),
please draw their attention to our description of this match.
This match is simplified but
it is certainly not “dumbed down”. By using the appropriate reduced distance
targets for all of the stages of fire, this match will be challenging to score
well in. So don’t turn up your noses
thinking this is just a beginners match, it is a quick simple match that will
still give your skills a good workout!

The Combined CMP
Qualification and Vintage Military Rifle Matches are back on the schedule in
2008. Coming up on
Sunday, April 20th and again on Sunday, August 17th.
These matches are especially
suited to learning the ropes of High Power competition, qualifying for purchase
from the CMP or exercising one of your old favorite classic rifles.
Even though the course of
fire is shortened and simplified, there is still plenty of challenge to these
matches. They will be conducted on the
100 meter range as “walk-and-paste” matches.
There will be two sighter shots and ten shots
for record in each of the conventional stages of fire, in the following
order: Prone slow-fire, Prone rapid-fire, Sitting rapid-fire and Standing
slow-fire. To keep the competition
factor keen, he appropriate reduced-distance targets will be used: MR-31 (600yd. reduced for 100 yd.) for Prone
slow-fire, SR-21 (300 yd. reduced for 100 yd.) for Prone rapid-fire, and SR-1
(200 yd. reduced for 100 yd.) for Sitting rapid-fire and Standing slow-fire.
New For This Year: Following each of these
matches there will be a clinic on the proper cleaning, maintenance and adjustment
of the M-1 Garand Rifle!
