I know there are a lot of young shooters out there. It’s not just boys anymore
either. Many a young lady is finding out that shooting and plinking can be a
whole lot of fun! I was at the range recently and seen a father and daughter
there. He was teaching her how to shoot a rifle and pistol. In my eyes it seemed
like a father-daughter dance that they both were at. She was around 12 or so and
she followed him down to tack up the targets and was really excited about
switching over to the pistol. I thought to myself, ”Instead of dad just being
there, he was really really there spending quality time with his little girl”.
I know a lot of people would say how could he do that, she is so young. Let me
tell you if you could see the look on her face, you would have thought she was
18 and dad just gave her the first set of keys to the car. These young people
who shoot are very important. They are the ones who will tell friends and
classmates about the joy of shooting and correct this liberal philosophy in
kid’s minds that guns instinctively are bad just in themselves. When a lad comes
to school and tells his friends what he did over the weekend they will be all
ears. It’s like they have been told candy will rot their teeth and this guy is
saying he ate some over the weekend and it tastes good and it doesn’t rot your
teeth if you use it correctly. If a teacher called me in and said your son has
to stop talking about shooting to the other kids, I would defend his position
vehemently. If your kids don’t get the backing and support from you they will
wane very easy.
Young shooters are the plasma giving this sport new life. Don’t disconnect that
intravenous flow. Let them tell all the young people to try it for themselves.
Better yet offer to take some of their friends along, with the parent’s
permission. Just as we defend our 2nd Amendment rights these young people have
to do it also and not be whitewashed in their brain that the Second Amendment
isn’t what it says. The youngsters will love you for it.
The time is now. Don’t let it slip through your fingers because you will never
be able to get it back. When it’s gone—it’s gone forever!
