I know a lot of you have heard about the U.N. Arms treaty and a lot of you have
not. I have talked to people at my gun range and I am surprised at how many knew
nothing about it.
Folks this is very serious stuff and gun owners and the American people in
general need to keep informed of what’s buzzing around their ears. Gun Week ran
an article written by Joseph Tataro in their July 1st edition of what this
treaty is all about. I am posting it below so you may see the seriousness of
this threat to our 2nd Amendment.
All Americans should be aware of this treaty! If you know someone that is not
aware of it, please have them read this. Everyone needs to be writing your U.S.
Senator asking him or her to oppose this threat to our Constitution! My point in
writing this article is to get people informed. Please ask someone you know if
they are aware of this. If not please inform them and tell them to keep abreast
of updates from the NRA on this.
This will be a slide under the radar deal and most of the population is unaware
of what is going on behind closed doors.
John Bolton—Secretary to the U.N. under President Bush flatly rejected this
because of what it would do to our 2nd Amendment. Hillary Clinton, the current
Rep to the U.N. has said the United States wants to open talks on this treaty
and have it ratified by 2012, supposedly before the next presidential election.
The following is a clip from the NRA Daily updates Chris Cox speaking:
“Last week I went to New York to attend a meeting that should concern every gun
owner and freedom-loving American in this great nation. In 2009, at the behest
of the Obama administration, the United States joined 152 other countries in
endorsing a U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Resolution. The Resolution establishes an
international conference to be held next year, at which leaders from various
countries around the world – many of which have deplorable human rights records
– will draw up an international treaty designed to severely restrict or even
outright ban your right to sell, purchase, carry or own a firearm.
NRA has been warning American gun owners about this ticking time bomb for 15
years. NRA-ILA was the first group to be officially recognized by the U.N. as a
“non-governmental organization” representing gun owners, and we’ve attended
dozens of meetings around the world to protect the freedoms of American gun
owners, hunters and shooters.”
President Obama, Hillary Clinton and the U.N. claim that the only purpose of the
ATT is to fight terrorism and international crime syndicates. Americans should
not be fooled.”
Please take a few minutes to review and forward to people still in the dark.
Here is the the article! (webmaster's note: this is included here as a
link to GunWeek's
archives, with the permission of the Executive Editor, Joseph Tartaro.)
Forty five U.S. Senators have signed a letter that was sent to President Obama
and Sec. Hillary Clinton saying they will not vote for a treaty that in anyway
infringes on the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans!
It needs a two-thirds majority to pass the Senate—so as of now, they don’t have
it with these Senators against it.
The scary thing is 55 have did not sign it! The list of Senators that did sign
it is below.
Our two from Illinois did not! I would recommend sending them an email making
known your feelings about it.
The letter was signed by U.S. Senators:

(R-MO), John Boozman (R-AR), Scott Brown (R-MA), Richard Burr (R-NC), Dan Coats
