Individual Right

by Don Bekeleski

Someone recently wrote a letter to the newspaper saying the 2nd Amendment has been debated for 200 years now. Actually the creators and founders of it already debated it over 200 years ago. The debate is ‘over’ and according to the results of that debate they have established the Amendment. Here are some of the results of that debate and some of the actions that have violated it according to the way they established it!

Samuel Adams—“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States…..from keeping their own arms”. So Washington D.C, Chicago, Morton Grove, Wilmette and other cities have construed (or twisted) the Constitution to disarm the people from keeping their own arms!

Thomas Jefferson—“The strongest reason…to retain the right to keep and bear arms is to protect against tyranny in government.” If we are to protect against government tyranny, how can we do that if the established militia is the only ones to have arms and they are the government? I don’t think the founders were that contradictory!

George Mason—“I ask Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people…to disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them.” I can’t think of any other meaning this has than to say we the free people are going to be slaves to a police force if this continues.

James Madison----“Americans have the right and the advantage of being armed-unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms”. So we (the people) not the militia have an advantage by being armed. Seems the Liberals don’t agree with Mr. Madison!

Patrick Henry----“The greatest object is that every man be armed…..Everyone who is able may have a gun.” Wow I wonder if Hillary, Kerry, Schumer, Pelosi and Daley have ever read this?

George Washington---“A free people ought to be armed but disciplined”. Well you know what, if George said I should be armed, then what’s to question?

This one states it very clearly. John Adams-- “Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense.” Let’s see he said ‘individual’, not collective, and in the arms of citizens, not just the militia. Then he used the word ‘private’, which means you acting alone. Wow can’t be any clearer!

Mayor Daley said they confiscated 12,000 illegal guns off the streets of Chicago last year. Then there should be 12,000 more people in jail and off the streets, but my guess is they will pick them up again this year. There is a federal law that states there is a ten-year jail sentence for every gun sold illegally. Why is this not enforced? Why are we arresting the same people over and over again? Instead they need a scapegoat to make up for not enforcing the existing laws, so they chose the firearm to blame! Here’s a news flash! Eighty million gun owners killed no one last night!

I’m sure the above quotes settle the question very clearly that the 2nd Amendment is definitely an individual right without a doubt. If you really believe it is a militia right, then according to your belief, concerning the First Amendment, once organized newspapers are established your freedom of speech no longer exists!
Fear the politician that fears your gun!
