You are probably looking at the title of this article and saying, “Oh, Oh they
misspelled “fund”. No not really! It’s is supposed to be fun. Let me
explain. I have volunteered to be chairman of what we hope will be an annual
dinner to raise funds for the ISRA.
So now you’re saying, why the word fun? Well I am sure many of you have been to
dinners, myself included, where you come in, take a chance on a couple guns, eat
dinner and listen to a speaker for forty five minutes and then go home saying
what a boring evening. Well I hope to change that scenario for you.
If you come to this dinner you will find that taking chances on the guns and
prizes will actually be fun. Instead of just plunking your money down and
walking away with a ticket in your hand, how would you like to throw dice for
that ticket and maybe get more than one chance depending on your roll. How about
pulling the arm on a slot machine to determine how many chances you get or toss
a ball into a maze to get your chances.
Maybe a quick Bingo game with a possible prize of $1000.00 to the winner could
interest you. Then maybe the bucket raffle with chances on some nice prizes plus
a couple guns in the same raffle or the mini raffle. We will even do a “His &
Hers” raffle where there will be a gun for the man and the lady and the winner
gets both of them. It’s just a fact that in a carnival type of atmosphere,
people have fun, laugh and really enjoy themselves. That’s our aim with this
dinner!
The date for this event is Thursday May 10th at the Diplomat West Banquet Hall
at Rte. 83 and North Ave. in Elmhurst. There will be no formal keynote speakers,
but ISRA Directors and Officers will be on hand to greet you and perhaps answer
a few questions. Yes, it's our dinner, but we also want it to be your dinner! We
want you to walk away saying “That was a great time. I’m coming back next year”.
We hope to use the funds for legislative battles but also to start getting the
ISRA more name recognition through advertising.
Everything is in place except for one item. That is for you, our guests, to
attend. We have to make this event a success, and have another one next year!
This is where you come in. I am asking anyone who can attend to please do so to
help make it a success. Dinner tickets will be $30.00 ea. There are other
special pkgs. including a gun table and an early bird. Check the flyer to get
all the information. You won’t be sorry you attended. Bring your spouse or
friend and play some of the games together. Really it’s fun for one and all.
I also will get to meet the readers of my articles face to face. You’ll be able
to go the ISRA website and download the flyer
right off the site. You can also call (847) 985-2359 for information and
charge orders,
or
order tickets online.
Come to this event and share some ‘small talk’ with other gun owners and have a
great time while doing it.
Late change:
I know we have been advertising that there would be no speakers at this
dinner. Well we are privileged to have Alan Gottlieb, Founder of the 2nd
Amendment Foundation, say that he would be coming to the dinner and would speak
briefly.
The 2nd Amendment Foundation has done so much in helping the fight for our gun
rights through lawsuits and many other means to protect what we hold so dear.
If you have not purchased your ticket yet, there is still time for you to come
and meet and hear one of the great defenders of the right to keep and bear arms.
