I know you have heard so much about this that you get tired of reading it. I do to, but I believe in times like this when the subject is flurrying around like butterflies, we need to really educate the uneducated about this subject.

I think it’s important to be able to tell someone that screams “You don’t need an AK 47 to hunt,” that the 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting at all and that it’s about a right to keep [store-have in possession] and bear arms (really means carry). First of all, tell them if all they have ever seen on this subject has been on the newscasts, they definitely have been misled! The news people love to use terms like ‘Tech 9’ or Uzis. They know that right away someone who knows nothing about the functioning of guns will automatically think the word ‘tech’ has to be some computer laser weapon. Then of course the word ‘Uzi’ automatically brings up ideas of fully automatic machine guns. Then lastly the news always shows fully automatic weapons and not the ones in the ban. It really is the function or operation that needs to be explained. Names are names. If I came out with a new weapon and called it a ‘Cannon Tech 33’ people would think “Oh brother ,now they want to shoot technical cannons and #33’s at that.” My last name could be Cannon , I like the sound of tech, and 33 has a nice ring to it. So what’s the big deal?

One pull of the trigger for every shot! This is the heart of the subject and not the looks or the name! For ten years the law has been on the books and the Justice Dept. shows no difference in criminals using these weapons. Fact: the ban was useless!! These guns operate no faster than any of the guns sold in stores now-THEY JUST LOOK DIFFERENT! Have they stopped going to scary movies because looks frighten them?? Of course not! That’s because internally they know how the scene operates. Same principle ,only you have to tell them how it operates. Somehow they think the news stations are telling the truth.

This is a panic time for anti-gunners. Something they got passed has been proven worthless and is about to be revoked. They hate being proven wrong. They are wrong ,but we have to show people that.

Please don’t ever walk away from a discussion on assault weapons. Stay right there and be the teacher. Someone has to counteract the news media. If a lie is told enough times people start to believe it. So be it in this case. Tell them the truth, and the truth will keep us all free!
