| Armed and Safe |
The intent of Armed and Safe is to argue for gun rights, and to
debunk the "logic" of those who wish to violate them. Since
logic and truth have no place in their arguments, the anti-gun
sites almost never make provisions for comment or discussion--to
do so would be to expose the fatal weaknesses in their position.
Those who disagree with me are invited to post comments. I, for
one, don't fear debate. |
| Chicago Handgun Rights |
Excerpt: How does this affect Chicago? Like D.C., Chicago residents are prohibited from registering handguns and must rely upon the permitted shotguns and rifles. The danger of firing a rifle indoors need not be argued to anyone that has ever actually fired a rifle. It is quite easy to imagine a missed rifle bullet passing through even the exterior walls of a house not to mention interior walls. Additionally, like shotguns, they are quite unwieldy in the often tight and cramped quarters in the typical Chicago home or apartment. The only effective shotgun used in close quarters is illegal by Illinois State law and currently heavily regulated by the Federal government in places outside Illinois where it is legal --- the sawed-off shotgun (a common trench warfare weapon despite the mistake made in the Miller case.) |

| Gun Owners Against Violence |
Excerpt: Please don't call me a gun-lover. I never really shot a gun until after my encounter this year with three men breaking into my home while I was alone. If you have to call me anything, call me a gun owner against violence. Call me one amongst the gun owners content in the knowledge that 90% of our weapons have helped to prevent crime without a shot ever being fired -- but call me fully prepared to use my firearms to their fullest, lethal extent should you fail to disarm the violence in your heart and attempt to inflict it on me or anyone in my presence. |
