As many of you have heard there is a grassroots Second
Amendment revolution sweeping across the state of Illinois county by
county in the form of Pro-Second Amendment County Resolutions!
The movement was born on the road to IGOLD - Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day
- in March of 2007. While traveling to Springfield, Mark Mountain, a Pike
County board member, and Jim Logsdon, Brown County board member, were
discussing current anti-gun legislation facing Illinois gun owners when
they decided something needed to be done on a local level to support our
Second Amendment constitutional rights - something that would send a
strong message to legislators in Springfield that Illinois gun owners have
had ENOUGH of the anti-gun legislation coming mostly out of Chicago and
Cook County! They composed a resolution to present to their local county
boards and the rest is now a shining beacon in gun owner history!
The Pro-Second Amendment Resolution was first passed in Brown County on
April 9, 2007 with Pike taking up the torch shortly thereafter - a move
which ignited a flame in the hearts of gun owners all over the state! Mark
Mountain and friends, who have become icons in the eyes of Illinois gun
owners, have since been featured on the Derry Brownfield Common Sense
Network, Guntalk.com
with Tom Grisham, NRA's Cam &
company with Cam Edwards,
NRAnews.com and many local radio talk shows urging other counties to
take up the cause and pass the resolution.
As of October 14, 2008, 87 counties have passed resolutions. Shelby County
and Livingston County already have resolutions in support of the
Second Amendment on the books from 2003.
If you would like to introduce the resolution to your county board and
