I am a software engineer at a major telecommunications company located in the western suburbs of Chicago. I am a third generation American Jew from a family of liberal minded folk who had no traditions of being gun owners or hunters. My father is retired from the military, with marksman's medals, yet never owned any firearms of his own. Two of my siblings and I learned to shoot at summer camp while living in Florida. My sister and I carry the lesson forward, supporting the NRA Foundation through Friends of NRA, to help ensure that the next generation gets a chance to experience shooting. I became seriously interested in gun rights during the Clinton Administration, when it became apparent to me that the intent of the liberal elite was to remove weaponry from the hands of those they allegedly served. A good many of those liberal elite are "my people", and are indeed misguided. There's a saying among the Jews here when referring to the Holocaust in Germany: "Never Again." I'm afraid they're empty words when they have no teeth. Since WWII, there have been several other holocausts in other parts of the world, all involved a citizenry that was disarmed by its government. Why chance it here in the USA? I am neither a competitive shooter nor a hunter, rather, I am a recreational shooter. I shoot because I enjoy it and because I like exercising my Second Amendment rights. I have a few guns in my collection, and I tend to have them just because I like them rather than because of what value they may hold to others. I enjoy motorcycles, and was a motorcycle mechanic and teacher of motorcycle mechanics before I graduated from college. I am proud to serve the ISRA in my new role as 1st Vice President and hope to continue serving the ISRA for a long time to come. I can be emailed here.
