I was
born in Poland but lived in the United States for the majority of my life.
I grew up in Chicago and am the proud product of the city’s “finest” – the
tough neighborhood public school system. After moving to Bloomington I
attended ISU, from where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family
and Consumer Sciences - Food and Nutrition.
Growing up in a communist country and later in Chicago (two very similar
systems!), I never had a chance to see a handgun, let alone use one.
Always a firm believer in equal rights, I could not perceive my husband to
be the only one in our household to own a firearm. He, without my
knowledge, applied for and received a F.O.I.D. card and bought a long
gun. Naturally, I wanted one as well. I bought something just to have it –
it was shiny, it looked pretty, but I had no idea what to do with it. I’ve
come a long way since then; I now participate regularly in state and
national bullseye championships.
I have served as Treasurer of both statewide and local ISRA Women’s
Shooting Committee and have chaired and co-chaired the East Central
Illinois Friends of NRA dinners. I am a NRA Endowment Member and ISRA
Benefactor Member. I am a NRA Certified Instructor in Refuse To Be
Victim, personal/home protection, pistol, rifle, and shotgun
disciplines, and am also a graduate of Massad Ayoob’s LFI-I training
program. |
