Phone Calls Needed Immediately!

OPPOSE SB0233 Amendment 1

Witness slips and phone calls to your Illinois State Senators are needed.   Senate Bill 0233 is a shell bill so Amendment 1 becomes the bill.   Please note: the title of the bill is “Safety Tech” but that no longer matters, only the Amendment matters.  SB0233 A1 makes it a civil rights violation if a local government DOES NOT license gun dealers.  This is a terrible bill in other respects as well so the whole bill should be opposed.

Please call your State Senator immediately.

The reason we are calling for both phone calls and witness slips is because we are now facing one hour posting noticesWhat that means is a one hour notice is given before announcing that a bill will be posted to committee.   No witness slips can be filed before that time.  We expect this bill will be heard in Senate Judiciary committee at 4:30pm   That means no witness slips can be filed until 3:30pm or when the Amendment is posted.  It is possible to change the committee time so your vigilance is needed.  If this bill is passed out of committee it will go back to the full Senate and be on Third Reading in minutes and could pass as soon as tomorrow.  These are treacherous times.
