Palmer v D.C.

Palmer v D.C.

Commentary by Victor D. Quilici, ISRA General Counsel

Alan Gura, the plaintiffs’ attorney in the Heller and McDonald cases
has done it again, scoring a victory in a federal district court case in the
District of Columbia that many Second Amendment scholars see as
a milestone for the Second Amendment right to carry handguns outside of the
home for self-defense.

2014 - The Year We Yearn For

Small Talk - Opinion by Don Bekeleski

We are fast approaching 2014. Law abiding gun owners are yearning for it. It will take some months to see results, but it is the year we earned a real right to self-defense!  We can be proud of our accomplishments. It wasn’t easy as other states have had. We fought against an entrenched government against our right to carry no matter what the statistics said, or the writing on the wall said.  They fought us tooth and nail, till we as the ISRA, finally brought them to court on it.

2014 - Start to Win Now

Small Talk - Opinion by Don Bekeleski

Well as of this writing we now have conceal carry passed by both houses of the legislature.

I don’t know everything that is in the bill as of yet. But something we all should be thinking of is next year’s elections.

This bill has restrictions that I know. Other states have added places to carry that were not allowed previously. That’s where we need to be looking to. If there are restrictions we feel are just not appropriate to our conceal carry, then we will have to change it through the legislature. That means we need a legislature that’s on our side. The only way we get it is to get them elected folks! That’s where we come in, along with all the other gun owners in this state.

Otis McDonald

It is with great regret that I inform you of the passing of Otis McDonald. Otis was 79. I have always considered Otis as one of those people who lived everyday bravely and was not a hero because of one event but was a hero every day of his life.
